Testimonials About Rapid Edge:

  • From Jon Eakes, Do-It-Yourself Star of HGTV & D-I-Y TV:

“Serrated utility knife blades -- This is one of the most exciting of the new tools, a regular sized utility knife blade that has a serrated edge. No more rough drywall cuts. In fact no more rough cuts at all. Another Canadian invention -- called Rapid Edge.” For complete press release, click here.

  • From Twins Drywall, Contractors, writing about Rapid Edge Blades:

“…Our foremen recently used then in the field, cutting 5/8” drywall all morning (4.5 hours) and then continued to use the same blade in the afternoon to cut ceiling tile for the rest of the day. Under the same conditions with a Stanley or other reg utility blade (which our foremen say are all pretty much the same quality for the most part), they said they go through about four to seven blades under the same circumstances.” To see complete letter, click here .

  • From Artie Holm, owner of Artie’s Ace Hardware, Phoenix, AZ:

“…I first reviewed the Rapid Edge line prior to Thanksgiving last year. I used the knife in the warehouse to help open our Christmas merchandise. I opened over 450 boxes on a single blade. I also asked many of our best contractor customers to try the knife and report on results. They all said, “This blade really lasts a long time.” To see complete letter, click here.

“Just Ask Jon Eakes” Endorses Rapid Edge Serrated Blade

(March 5, 2004 – Burlington, Ontario) – The Jon Eakes weekly newsletter, published online at www.joneakes.com, heartily endorses the patented Rapid Edge serrated utility knife blade. In the newsletter, dated February 14, 2004, Eakes says, “Serrated utility knife blades -- This is one of the most exciting of the new tools, a regular sized utility knife blade that has a serrated edge. No more rough drywall cuts. In fact no more rough cuts at all. Another Canadian invention -- called Rapid Edge.”

The “Just Ask Jon Eakes” website receives 1 million hits per month. “Just Ask Jon Eakes” is also on The DYINET (Do-It-Yourself Network) and HGTV (Home & Garden cable channel).

Simon Medhurst, President of Rapid Tools, speaking about the Rapid Edge innovation, “Due to the serration, the blade uses three to five cutting surfaces instead of the single cutting surface found on a conventional blade. This configuration means that the blade stays sharper longer and cuts straighter.”

The hefty, ergonomically shaped design combined with the ultra-sharp blades makes cutting on the job site or in the warehouse a simple task. According to Medhurst, “Rapid Edge blades and knives deliver an innovative new hand tool solution in a category where breakthrough developments are rare.”

The Rapid Edge knife also features several other innovations. A built-in red LED just beneath the knife blade provides light in dimly lit work areas and signals that a sharp blade is open. The handle of the retractable thumb control features a “quick-lock” design. With a flick of the thumb, the control locks the blade depth in place to prevent blade retraction under pressure during cutting operations.

RE: Rapid Edge Blades and Knives

Dear Simon,

I first reviewed the Rapid Edge line prior to Thanksgiving last year. I used the knife in the warehouse to help open our Christmas merchandise. I opened over 450 boxes on a single blade. I also asked many of our best contractor customers to try the knife and report on results. They all said, "This blade really lasts a long time." They also reported that they liked the feel of the knife in their hand and were universally surprised at its reasonable cost.

As a result of this positive feedback, we installed a rolling "Power Tower" display with the Rapid Edge line (4 SKUS) on itat the beginning of April. Since April is normally a "slow" sales period for tools, we were surprised to note that we sold 57 items off the rack (details available on request) in the initial 30 days. As a result, we've added Rapid Edge Knives and Blades to our regular utility knife Plan-O-Gram in addition to the Power Tower display. We recommend the Rapid Edge merchandising program to any hardware store and recommend Rapid Edge as a great, long-lasting, super sharp blade. It's a hot item for us!

Best Regards,

Artie Holm

To Whom It May Concern;

We at Twins Drywall (Owner and Employees) have recently field tested the blades (Rapid Edge Blades) and have found them to outlast and out perform the blades that we were recently using, i.e. Stanley Utility Blades.

Our foremen have recently used them in the field, cutting 5/8" drywall all morning (4.5 hours) and then continued to use the same blade in the afternoon to cut ceiling tile for the rest of the day.

Under the same conditions with a Stanley or any other regular blade (which our foremen say are all pretty much the same quality for the most part), they said they would go through about four to seven blades under the same circumstances.

Our foremen and employees are eagerly awaiting the availability of these new Rapid blades. As they will be a welcomed asset to our daily use of blades.

We would be very interested in the cost of the new blades, and as well the availability of them.

Yours Sincerely,

Don Mathews
Owner
Twins Drywall
